Update: 10,000 Trees is a crowdfunding success

Update: Remember 10,000 Trees? The project that I spotlighted in the Kickstarter post from a couple of weeks ago?

I’m glad to report that the campaign was a success, proving that green Kickstarter projects can indeed take off. With several days left on the clock, Sarah Ginsburg and Sarah Berkovich have raised $300 over the $5,000 goal. They plan on using the extra funds — and any other amounts they raise before the deadline — for getting some film festival love, not to mention a touching gesture for the man that inspired the project.

10,000 Trees proves that eco-friendly/socially conscious projects, social media and crowdfunding can go hand in hand to spectacular results. This bodes well for 33needs and other startups that are banking on the power (and pocketbooks) of the online masses to launch their earth-friendly initiatives.

Congrats!
