Green gadget alert: Samsung’s solar netbook arrives in July

News that Russia was getting Samsung’s NC215S — a 10.1-inch netbook with a built-in solar panel — in August was great and a little disappointing at the same time. Don’t eco-conscious netbook users stateside deserve some love?

It turns out Samsung plans to release the NC215S in the U.S. in a few short weeks, July 3rd to be exact! When it arrives here, it will carry an MSRP of $399, which gets you an Intel Atom dual-core N570 processor rated at 1.6GHz, a 250 GB hard drive and 1GB of RAM. And don’t forget the aforementioned solar panel that dominates the back of the screen and contributes to a staggering 14 hours of battery life.

Though taste is subjective, I daresay that it looks pretty sharp and it’s a simple, clean aesthetic that I wouldn’t mind seeing in more of Samsung’s gadgets, smartphones and tablets specifically. Basically: more please!
