Green DIY: Build a Solar Wi-Fi hotspot

This is neat.

If you need to extend a wireless network beyond the reach of a power cable, VoltXamps.com has a how-to on converting a Linksys WRT54G router, a solar panel and a cigar box into a self-contained Wi-Fi hotspot. It’s a cool and classy-looking weekend project if you’re comfortable with some soldering and flashing firmware with DD-WRT.

I have just one concern. The cigar case in this build is dark, which could make things toasty for the router’s internals if left in the sun for extended periods. I would suggest a cigar case or similar repurposed enclosure of a lighter color. Beyond that, it’s just plain awesome.
